The Men´s Olympic Program has remained unchanging since 1932, with the only exception of the 20 km Walk; which entered in 1956 as a substitute for the 10000 Metres Track Walk. Between Paris 1900 and Paris 1924, some "weird" events as standing jumps or throws with both hands were also held. The discontinued events make a total of 47 (not included in the table below); of which USA won 21 gold medals; FIN 10; GBR 6; SWE 4; ITA 3; CAN 2 & GRE 1.

NOTE: IOC decission of stripping 4x400 gold medal at Sydney 2000 is not into consideration in these stats until a final decision on reallocating the medals be taken. As of August 2008 no time frame for a decision on medal redistribution has been set.

El programa olímpico masculino ha permanecido inalterable desde 1932, con la única excepción de los 20 km marcha, que sustituyeron a partir de 1956 a los 10.000 metros marcha en pista. Entre París 1900 y París 1924 se disputaron algunas pruebas "raras" como los saltos sin impulso o los lanzamientos a dos manos. Las pruebas que no se continúan celebrando no figuran en la tabla de abajo y en total han sido 47, de las cuales USA ganó 21 oros; FIN 10; GBR 6; SWE 4; ITA 3; CAN 2 y GRE 1.

NOTA: La decisión del COI de retirar la medalla de oro del relevo 4x400 de Sydney 2000 no se tiene en cuenta en estas estadísticas hasta que se tome una decisión definitiva sobre la reasignación de las medallas. En Ago.2008 todavía no se había puesto fecha para dicha resolución.
