The Men's Olympic Program has remained unchanging since 1968, with the only addition of the 50 FS in 1988. Between 1896 and 1920, some "weird" events as 100 meters for sailors or underwater swimming were also held. The discontinued events make a total of 10 (not included in the table below); of which Germany won 4 gold medals; and GRE, GBR, SWE, AUS, FRA & USA made 1 each.
El programa olímpico masculino ha permanecido inalterable desde 1968, con la única adición de los 50 FS en 1988. Entre 1896 y 1920 se disputaron algunas pruebas "raras" como los 100 metros para marineros griegos o carreras bajo el agua. Estas pruebas, que no figuran en la tabla de abajo, y en total han sido 10, de las cuales Alemania ganó 4 oros y GRE, GBR, AUS, FRA y USA ganaron uno cada uno.

* According to FINA rules, preliminary swimmers are awarded medals too. Thus, medals won as members of a qualifying race relay team are included (between brackets).
* No male swimmer won the same individual event three times. Matt Biondi and Tom Jagger (USA) were in the American 4x100 FS relay team in 1984, 1988 & 1992 (3 golds).
* Don Schollander also swom the 4x100 and 4x100 MD preliminaries in 1968 but (unaccountedly), unlike Jagger or Biondi, they are not added to the official counting.
* Según las normas de la FINA, los nadadores de las series clasificatorias también son merecedores de la medalla que gane su país en la final. Por tanto, esas medallas también están incluídas aquí (entre paréntesis).
* Ningún nadador masculino ha ganado la misma prueba individual tres veces. Matt Biondi y Tom Jagger consiguieron tres oros en el relevo 4x100 libres en los años 1984, 1988 y 1992.
* Don Schollander también nadó las eliminatorias de 4x100 y 4x100 MD en 1968 pero, (inexplicablemente), y a diferencia de Jagger o Biondi, no están oficialmente contabilizadas.
